Some Basic Application Tips

Resize Desktop Windows   If you are installing Pearl OS v 2.5 on a small laptop or netbook you most likely will run into an issue where you cannot resize your active window small enough to reach your window form fields at the bottom of the window. This is easily solved by your super (windows) key on your keyboard. Below see the super key is marked with a star. To move windows either above and beyond the top panel and the bottom dock while holding the super key hold down left click on your mouse while dragging the window where you want.

PearlDE-FX Session Basics

To change desktop wallpaper simply right click on desktop choose desktop preferences.

To change theme icons etc simply click Pearl System Control on Dock.

control docky

Switch Theme dark to light OS X styled Theme

Theme was changed by using only the PearlDE GTK Appearance app (highlighted above)

To customize look and feel of bottom dock (docky)
right click choose settings on pearl icon on far left.

GNOME Session Basics

Pearl Tweak Tool  Is used when customizing a GNOME session Nitrogen is used to change wallpaper

Note: By default GNOME sessions do not draw desktop icons. We have choosen nitrogen to handle desktop wallpapers instead of using for example tweak tool to allow icons and mange wallpaper because to do that system needs nautilus installed and Pearl's default file manager is Thunar.  We did however choose to leave the option to use nautilus up to user however doing so will most likely change theme appearance for the bad.

pearl tweak

Conky Manager    by default does not autoload on startup. To activate the conky settings like our screenshot setup enable our default setting which includes time, date, HD stats, CPU stats, RAM stats, and IP address. See sample below.

Open the Conky Manager inside the System Settings Control Center. Check and highlight the widget as shown below from the initial screen that loads with this manager. Feel free to experiment around with this manager and make your own widget or theme easily. The Conky Manager comes with a few samples you may prefer over our default.

Thunar (finder) Extra custom right click commands

You must be within the thunar file manager to use custom commands.)

BTW ---> lol I highlightighted a wrong file one time told it to Read it and

if you want the dude to stop talking just right click  "Stop E Speak"

Also, we only installed the default e-speak voice. There are many more available.

OPEN Thunar as ROOT

You can easily tell when working in the root file manager
