General Discussion / Allow Firefox home page
« Last post by traisjames on September 08, 2018, 10:27:24 PM »
I have a new installation of Pearl going for my grandparents and I am trying to configure Firefox to use itís default home page so that my grandparents have access to top items. However when I change it or change to the default settings in about:config, it still launches the pearl home page. How do I change this away?

Dear contributors,

I am happy to announce that we are ready to release preliminary results of the "Developer Perception to Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub" survey. These results can be accessed at "https://naist-se.github.io/study-of-microsofts-github-acquisition/". Again thank you for your participation and please feel free to share or discuss these results.

Post your Install Issues Here / Cannot boot with any new kernel

Only 4.15.0-20 will boot right into the login screen, every other kernel since then (now 4.15.0-29) is stuck on underline cursor at the top left corner in a black screen.

General Discussion / Keyboard shortcut editing tool?
« Last post by leledumbo on July 22, 2018, 04:38:08 PM »
At the moment I have to install mate-control-center which has Hardware->Keyboard Shortcuts section that takes care of this. PearlDE should have its own IMHO.
And I think having printscreen key to automatically calls screenshot tool by default is a wise decision.

I follow the guide here: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1028703/the-grub-efi-amd64-signed-package-failed-to-install-target
and it works. Problem solved.

Thanks a lot. The solution worked like charm for my problem too. After booting a ubuntu live-USB, I just started from step 4.

I already have an existing UEFI system, I want to install Pearl to a newly created partition (manually selected). After formatting and mounting it as /, I choose my ESP partition for bootloader device installation. However, in the end I get message in the subject, installation aborted and indeed I can't boot it (when I select it in rEFInd, I'm brought to GRUB 2 prompt).

« Last post by natnaree on July 03, 2018, 04:24:04 AM »
Dear contributors,

I am Natnaree Asavaseri and currently undertaking a research internship at Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. As a part of my research, I am analyzing the impact of Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub.

I would like to conduct a survey to understand how developers perceive the Microsoft's acquisition of GitHub, especially from contributors to Linux distributions and BSD families. So please consider voicing your opinion by allowing us up to 5 minutes to complete our short survey.
